Notes

'Steeds' American holly (Ilex 'Steeds') is an evergreen shrub for specimen planting, hedges, privacy screens, and winter interest. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full sun to part shade and average to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It blooms in early to late spring, and bees visit the flowers. Birds are drawn to it too. The notes list both male and female forms, so plant one of each if you want berries.

Pairs well with Pagoda dogwood, Big bluestem, and Obedient plant.
