Notes

'Rock Garden' American holly (Ilex 'Rock Garden') is an evergreen shrub for borders, specimen planting, foundation beds, and winter interest. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Greenish-white flowers open in early to late spring and draw bees and birds. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. The low form stays 6 to 12 inches tall.

Pairs well with First Frost hosta, Karl Foerster feather reed grass, and Christmas fern.
