Notes

Striped squill (Puschkinia scilloides) is a bulb for borders, rock gardens, containers, and naturalized drifts. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist soil of most types. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything. It grows 3 to 6 inches tall and forms a clump. Fragrant blue flowers open in early to late spring.

Pairs well with Winter aconite, Greig's tulip, and Ostrich fern.

Native range

Western Asia and Caucasus.
