Notes
'Summers Swan Song' ironweed (Vernonia 'Summers Swan Song') is a perennial for borders and low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full sun and dry to moist soil of most types. Butterflies, hummingbirds, and bees visit the blooms. Deer usually look elsewhere for a meal. Once settled in, it tolerates drought.
Pairs well with Blazing star, Little bluestem, and Mexican hat.
