Notes

'Sweetshade' American yellowwood (Cladrastis kentukea 'Sweetshade') is a tree for specimen planting, shade gardens, and winter interest. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, sandy or loamy soil. It grows slowly into a broad tree and can reach 35 to 45 feet tall. Fragrant flowers open in spring and summer and attract bees, and the leaves turn a fall color.

Pairs well with Paperbark maple, Cinnamon fern, Rainforest Sunrise hosta, and Sedge.
