Notes

'First Frost' hosta (Hosta 'First Frost') is a perennial for shade gardens, borders, and low maintenance beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade and average to moist, loamy or clay soil. It forms a mounding clump of variegated leaves that is 15 inches tall and at least 36 inches wide. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. Lavender flowers are fragrant and draw bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds.

Pairs well with Aureola Japanese forest grass, Astilbe, and Bigleaf hydrangea.
