Notes

Tall ironweed (Vernonia angustifolia) is a perennial for borders, pollinator gardens, and meadows. It is hardy to USDA zone 7, or down to 0°F (-18°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and dry to average, sandy or loamy soil. Purple, pink, or white flowers open from early to late summer. Butterflies, hummingbirds, bees, and birds visit the blooms, and the plant tolerates drought.

Pairs well with Goldenrod, Purple top, and Gaura.
