Notes

Goldenrod (Solidago virgaurea) is a perennial for borders, rock gardens, and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to average, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Yellow flowers draw butterflies and bees, and the clumping plant grows fast. It also tolerates drought and salt. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first.

Pairs well with Blue fescue, Lamb’s ear, and Heather.
