Notes

Texas kidneywood (Eysenhardtia texana) is a shrub for borders, hedges, and specimen plantings, and it needs little care. It is hardy to USDA zone 8, or down to 10°F (-12°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry soil of most types. Small white flower spikes smell sweet and appear off and on from May to October, especially after rains. Bees and butterflies visit the blooms. The leaves smell pungent and citrusy when crushed, and they may drop during a dry spell.

Pairs well with Autumn sage, Blue grama, Blackfoot daisy, and Cenizo.
