Notes

Valley oak (Quercus lobata) is a tree for pollinator gardens and food gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 7, or down to 0°F (-18°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, loamy soil. It grows into a large, deciduous tree with wide-spreading limbs and weeping branch tips. The broad crown makes a graceful shade tree. Yellow flowers open in early to late spring, and the acorns feed many kinds of wildlife.

Pairs well with Pecan, Southern magnolia, Strawberry tree, and Johnny jump up.
