Notes

Pecan (Carya illinoinensis) is a tree for food gardens, shade gardens, and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist soil of most types. The sweet nuts make it the best hickory for fruit production. Give it room, because it can grow tall and has a large taproot that makes it hard to transplant.

Pairs well with Scarlet oak, Joe-pyeweed, and Chardonnay grape.
