Notes

West Indian mahogany (Swietenia mahagoni) is a low maintenance tree for home plantings and roadsides. It grows outdoors year-round in USDA zone 10 and warmer, down to about 30°F (-1°C). In colder areas, grow it as a houseplant or bring it indoors for winter. This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. The tree is nearly evergreen, because it sheds old leaves in spring and replaces them quickly. Its greenish flowers are small and are followed by a large, brown pod.

Pairs well with Weeping fig, Honey bush, and Banana.
