Notes

Wild geranium (Geranium maculatum) is a perennial for shade gardens, woodland plantings, and ground cover. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and dry to moist soil of most types. It spreads by thick rhizomes but is not aggressive. Pink to lavender flowers open in spring above deeply cut leaves. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything.

Pairs well with Dutchman's breeches, Cinnamon fern, and Lily of the valley.
