Notes

Wild sweetwilliam (Phlox maculata) is a perennial for borders, cut flower gardens, pollinator gardens, and rain gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to wet soil of most types. Its fragrant pinkish-purple flowers draw butterflies, hummingbirds, and bees. Deer rarely make it their first choice. It grows 24 to 36 inches tall, so place it toward the middle or back of a bed.

Pairs well with Little bluestem, Blue star, and Obedient plant.
