Notes
Wingstem (Verbesina alternifolia) is a perennial for borders, pollinator gardens, and rain gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Yellow flowers appear in summer and again in autumn, and butterflies and bees visit them. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first. It grows tall, so give it room at the back of the bed.
Pairs well with American boneset, Common milkweed, and Switchgrass.
