Notes

Golden crownbeard (Verbesina encelioides) is an annual for borders and low maintenance gardens. This plant likes full sun and dry soil of most types. It grows 24 to 59 inches tall and has silvery green, toothed leaves. Yellow flowers open up to 2 inches across and offer nectar to butterflies and bees, especially late in the season. Deer usually look elsewhere for a meal. It also fills in well on poor, disturbed ground.

Pairs well with Indian blanket, Partridge pea, Purple prairie clover, and Hoary vervain.
