Notes
Youth on age (Tolmiea menziesii) is a perennial for ground cover, shade gardens, and woodland plantings. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade and moist to wet soil. Its greenish-purple to chocolate flowers have bright-yellow anthers and open on wand-like stalks in spring and summer. New plantlets form where the leaf blade meets the stalk, so it spreads on its own.
Pairs well with Elegans hosta, Toad lily, Aureola Japanese forest grass, and Crimson Queen Japanese maple.
