Notes

'Aureola' Japanese forest grass (Hakonechloa macra 'Aureola') is a grass for borders, containers, and shade gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and average to moist soil of most types. The arching leaves spill over like falling water, so try it beside a pond or at the edge of a shade bed. Deer usually look elsewhere for a meal. It grows slowly and rustles in the breeze.

Pairs well with Guacamole hosta, Foam flower, and Christmas fern.
