Notes

'Akita' dahlia (Dahlia 'Akita') is a tuberous perennial for borders, cut flowers, containers, and cottage gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 8, or down to 10°F (-12°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Bees, butterflies, hummingbirds, and birds visit the blooms, which open in early to late summer and again in early to late autumn. K. Ohta bred it, and Y. Konishi introduced it in 1981.

Pairs well with Black-eyed Susan, Sneezeweed, and Lemongrass.
