Notes

American mountain mint (Pycnanthemum muticum) is a perennial for borders, pollinator gardens, meadows, and rain gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist soil of most types. Pink blooms open in summer and draw butterflies and bees. Deer and rabbits usually look elsewhere for a meal. The fragrant leaves and drought tolerance make it easy to grow.

Pairs well with Dense blazing star, Little bluestem, and Common sneezeweed.
