Notes

'Armstrong' maple (Acer freemanii 'Armstrong') is a tree for specimen planting, shade gardens, and rain gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to wet soil. Reddish green flowers open in mid spring. The leaves turn a rich color in fall. It grows tall and narrow, so it suits a spot with room overhead.

Pairs well with Royal fern, Black gum, Sensitive fern, and Invincibelle Ruby smooth hydrangea.
