Notes
'Scarsen' maple (Acer freemanii 'Scarsen') is a tree for specimen planting, shade gardens, and rain gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to wet soil. Greenish yellow flowers open in mid spring. The leaves turn a rich color in fall. It grows 40 to 45 feet tall and 20 to 25 feet wide, so give it plenty of room.
Pairs well with Black gum, Royal fern, Sensitive fern, and Northern bayberry.
