Notes

'Balbeemed' spotted beebalm (Monarda didyma 'Balbeemed') is a perennial for borders, pollinator gardens, cottage gardens, and rain gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full sun and average to wet, clay soil. It forms a clumping plant with fragrant flowers that bloom in early to late summer. Butterflies, hummingbirds, bees, and birds visit the blooms. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first.

Pairs well with Culver’s root, Little bluestem, and False indigo.
