Notes

'Barlow Mix' columbine (Aquilegia vulgaris 'Barlow Mix') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist soil of most types. The clematis-flowered blooms come in red, rose, and purple. They open in spring and again in summer, and they attract butterflies, hummingbirds, and bees. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything.

Pairs well with Dr. Alexander Fleming peony, Dalmatian bellflower, and Sensitive fern.
