Notes

'Baumannii' horse chestnut (Aesculus hippocastanum 'Baumannii') is a tree for specimen use and shade gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average moisture. Rabbits usually look elsewhere for a meal. White flowers open in late spring and draw hummingbirds, bees, and birds. It grows at a moderate rate with an erect habit and a wide spread, so give it plenty of room.

Pairs well with Linden, Autumn Gold maidenhair tree, Sensitive fern, and Blush peony.
