Notes

Black cherry (Prunus serotina) is a tree for pollinator gardens, food gardens, and woodland plantings. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and dry to moist soil of most types. Dangling white flowers open in spring after the glossy leaves appear. Deer usually look elsewhere for a meal. Give it room, since it drops lots of twigs, leaves, and fruit.

Pairs well with Northern red oak, Staghorn sumac, and Bracken.
