Black Ship lily

Notes

'Black Ship' lily (Lilium 'Black Ship') is a bulb for borders, containers, and cut flower use. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun. Six inch wide flowers appear in early to late summer on tall stalks. They look jet black on cloudy days and deep burgundy in sun. Plant it in groups of 3 to 5 toward the middle or back of the garden.

Pairs well with Iris, Panicle hydrangea, Queen Sophia French marigold, and Kentucky bluegrass.
