Notes

Black-spined agave (Agave macroacantha) is a succulent for borders, containers, and xeriscape gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 8, or down to 10°F (-12°C). This plant likes full sun and dry, sandy soil. It stays low at 12 to 24 inches tall and spreads 24 to 47 inches wide. The leaves stay evergreen all year. Deer rarely make it their first choice.

Pairs well with Desert spoon, Prickly-pear, White sage, and Elfin mother of thyme.
