Notes

Blackjack oak (Quercus marilandica) is a tree for woodland settings, shade gardens, and low maintenance landscapes. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes full sun to part shade and dry to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It grows slowly and can form an open, symmetrical crown when given good soil and room. The glossy green leaves turn reddish-brown in fall and often stay on the tree into winter. Give it good care and watch for oak wilt.

Pairs well with Cedar elm, Dogwood, Coralbells, and Japanese forest grass.
