Notes

Blanket flower (Gaillardia aristata) is a perennial for borders, pollinator gardens, rock gardens, and meadows. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun and dry to average, sandy, loamy, or chalky soil. Yellow petals with dark red bases surround a brownish-purple center, and butterflies, bees, and birds visit the blooms. Deer usually look elsewhere for a meal. The plant is drought tolerant, so it suits dry spots.

Pairs well with Dense blazing star, Blue grama, and Paprika yarrow.
