Notes
Blind prickly pear (Opuntia rufida) is a succulent for borders, xeriscapes, and low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 8, or down to 10°F (-12°C). This plant likes full sun to part shade and dry, sandy or loamy soil. It grows into a branching shrub-like form with round, gray-green pads covered in short brown spines. The flowers range from yellow to bright red-orange, and you can see every shade on one plant at the same time. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first.
Pairs well with American century plant, Aloe, and Desert spoon.
