Notes

Cactus apple (Opuntia engelmannii) is a succulent for borders, hedges, and low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 8, or down to 10°F (-12°C). This plant likes full sun to part shade and dry, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first. It grows evergreen and tolerates drought. Yellow flowers draw hummingbirds, bees, and birds.

Pairs well with Jojoba, Texas bluebonnet, and Vetiver.
