Notes

'Boursault' catawba rhododendron (Rhododendron catawbiense 'Boursault') is an evergreen shrub for specimen planting, hedges, and winter interest. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and dry to moist soil. Lilac-purple, spotted, bell-shaped flowers open late in spring and attract bees and hummingbirds. It grows best in acidic, well-drained soil rich in humus. Deer tend to browse other plants first.

Pairs well with Big bluestem, Buttonbush, and Shagbark hickory.
