Notes

'Brass Buckle' Japanese holly (Ilex crenata 'Brass Buckle') is a shrub for borders, hedges, containers, and foundation plantings. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to wet soil of most types. Deer rarely make it their first choice. It stays dense and low, reaching 12 to 24 inches tall and wide, and it grows slowly. The evergreen leaves keep color through winter, and bees visit the flowers.

Pairs well with Autumn fern, Blue Angel hosta, and Karl Foerster feather reed grass.
