Notes

Bush poppy (Dendromecon rigida) is a shrub for borders, containers, and xeriscape gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 8, or down to 10°F (-12°C). This plant likes full sun and dry, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It is an evergreen with gray-green, leathery leaves and shredding bark. Cup-shaped yellow flowers attract butterflies. Plant it in perfectly drained soil and skip the fertilizer.

Pairs well with Big berry manzanita, California flannelbush, Silver lupine, and Hummingbird trumpet.
