Notes

California fan palm (Washingtonia filifera) is a tree for specimen planting, accents, and low maintenance landscapes. It is hardy to USDA zone 8, or down to 10°F (-12°C). This plant likes full sun and dry to moist, sandy or loamy soil. Dead leaves fold down against the trunk instead of dropping off. You can remove this thick thatch from time to time. Small flowers attract bees, and birds visit too.

Pairs well with American century plant, Sago palm, Agapanthus, and Aloe.
