Notes

Canadian white violet (Viola canadensis) is a perennial for shade gardens, woodland gardens, and naturalized areas. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and average to wet soil of most types. Fragrant white flowers have yellow centers and sometimes a purple tinge. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. Bees and butterflies visit the blooms.

Pairs well with White trillium, Bellwort, Sensitive fern, and Royal fern.
