Notes

'Cat' johnny jump up (Viola 'Cat') is a perennial for ground cover. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes part to full shade and average moisture. The fragrant white flowers have a yellow eye and open in mid to late spring. Deer rarely make it their first choice. It grows 6 to 12 inches tall and spreads 9 to 12 inches, so plant a few together for a soft carpet.

Pairs well with Allegheny spurge, Ebony spleenwort, Ramsons, and Zorro bigleaf hydrangea.
