Notes

'Chanticleer' pear (Pyrus calleryana 'Chanticleer') is a tree for use as a specimen. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. White flowers open in early to late spring and attract bees and birds. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. The upright tree grows at a moderate rate and shows fall color.

Pairs well with Shasta daisy, Bridal wreath spiraea, Autumn fern, and Gladiolus.
