Notes
'Chartres' tulip (Tulipa 'Chartres') is a bulb for borders, cut flowers, and cottage gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun and average moisture. The flowers open in early to late spring and reach about 16 inches tall. Each bloom is vermilion outside and glowing vermilion inside, with a deep blood red base edged in yellow. The leaves are blotched, and the anthers are black.
Pairs well with Mount Hood daffodil, Blush peony, and Little bluestem.
