Notes

'Chater's Maroon' hollyhock (Alcea rosea 'Chater's Maroon') is a perennial for borders and low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun, average moisture, and sandy, loamy, or chalky soil. Deer and rabbits usually look elsewhere for a meal. It reaches about 71 to 94 inches tall, so it works well at the back of a bed. Blooms open from early to late summer and draw butterflies, hummingbirds, and bees.

Pairs well with Coneflower, Shasta daisy, and Rosemary.
