Notes

Chickasaw plum (Prunus angustifolia) is a shrub for pollinator gardens, food gardens, and meadows. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full sun to part shade and dry to moist, sandy soil. It forms thickets and bears fragrant white flowers in spring. The red plums are grown for fresh eating, jellies, and preserves. Birds and mammals eat the fruit too.

Pairs well with Switchgrass, Big bluestem, and Rising Sun Texas redbud.
