Notes

'Rising Sun' Texas redbud (Cercis canadensis 'Rising Sun') is a tree for borders, specimen planting, and woodland gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and dry to moist soil of most types. Pink flowers cover the bare twigs in spring before the leaves appear, and you can eat them in salads. Deer rarely make it their first choice. Bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds visit the blooms.

Pairs well with Witch hazel, Amsonia, and Little bluestem.
