Notes

Colorado blue columbine (Aquilegia coerulea) is a perennial for borders, containers, woodland gardens, and meadows. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and average to moist soil of most types. Long-spurred blue and white flowers attract hummingbirds and long-tongued insects. An individual plant may live only 4-5 years, but it will self-seed once established. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice.

Pairs well with Lady's mantle, Siberian iris, Foxglove, and Star of persia.
