Notes

Cretan brake (Pteris cretica) is a fern for shade borders, containers, and woodland gardens. It grows outdoors year-round in USDA zone 9 and warmer, down to about 20°F (-7°C). In colder areas, grow it as a houseplant or bring it indoors for winter. This plant likes part to full shade and average moisture. It is not a favorite of rabbits, though hungry rabbits will eat almost anything. It stays evergreen and grows 12 to 24 inches tall and wide.

Pairs well with Wood fern, Giant chain fern, and Wedding Gown bigleaf hydrangea.
