Notes

Cutleaf coneflower (Rudbeckia laciniata) is a perennial for borders, pollinator gardens, meadows, and naturalized areas. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It spreads rampantly by underground stems, so give it a large site and stake tall stalks if needed. It sits low on the menu for deer. Butterflies, bees, and birds visit the golden flowers.

Pairs well with Indian grass, Hairy aster, and Royal fern.
