Notes
'Czar' beardtongue (Penstemon 'Czar') is a perennial for pollinator gardens and meadows. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes full sun and dry to average soil. Purple flowers with white insides open in early to late spring and again in early to late summer. Bees visit the blooms, and birds come to the plant too. It grows 12 to 24 inches tall and 12 to 18 inches wide.
Pairs well with Blue grama, Common milkweed, Indian grass, and Texas bluebonnet.
