Notes

Desert agave (Agave deserti) is a succulent for rock gardens, dry borders, and containers. It is hardy to USDA zone 7, or down to 0°F (-18°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry soil. Its blue-green, sword-like leaves form a clump with sharp teeth and a stiff spine at each tip, so plant it away from paths. After many years it sends up a tall stalk of pale yellow flowers, and then the plant dies.

Pairs well with Mediterranean spurge, Shenandoah switchgrass, and Elfin mother of thyme.
