Notes
Devil's tongue (Amorphophallus bulbifer) is a bulb for containers, shade gardens, and bold foliage accents. It grows outdoors year-round in USDA zone 9 and warmer, down to about 20°F (-7°C). In colder areas, grow it as a houseplant or bring it indoors for winter. This plant likes part sun and dry soil. Its stems are mottled with cream and green, and it bears a soft pink spathe in summer. Small bulbils form on the leaves, and the bulb goes dormant by fall.
Pairs well with Purple Sensation ornamental onion, Genova dahlia, and California fescue.
Native range
Northern and eastern India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, and Nepal.
