'Purple Sensation' ornamental onion (Allium hollandicum 'Purple Sensation') is a bulb for borders, pollinator gardens, and containers. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to average, sandy or loamy soil. Deer and rabbits tend to pass it by. Its deep rosy purple flowers form round spheres about three inches across on tall stems. Butterflies and bees visit the blooms.
Pairs well with Blue fescue, Ice plant, and Black Parrot tulip.
